What My Toddler Eats

 Hi Lovelies!

I have tried to be strict with what "A" eats from day one. Her diet consists of lean proteins, fruits, veggies, and limited carbs. Although be let have the occasional sweet, such as, a small cookie, or pumpkin bread. Since she started drinking out of a sippy cup we have limited her to water, milk, and deluted apple juice. She loves water and will typically down 3-4 cups a day. However, we do limit milk to 1-2 cups a day. Here is a break down of what she eats daily.

When it comes to breakfast she likes variety. If she eats the same thing every day she gets tired of it pretty quickly and then will not eat anything. She typically asks for a banana upon waking up. About an hour later we will eat one of the following breakfast: (1) eggs, toast, fruit (2) pancakes and fruit (3) cereal and fruit. All of these are served with a glass of milk. I let her choose what breakfast she wants to give a little bit of independence.

As for lunch, variety is the key. She loves chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. She will request this at least twice a week. She also likes grilled cheese sandwiches, heated turkey and cheese sandwiches, and sometimes she will eat leftovers from the night before. With all lunches we serve veggies and fruit. She also loves to eat salads and will request carrot sticks and apple chunks with her lunch. Girlfriend loves her  fruits and veggies.

When it comes to dinner she will eat a variety of foods. She eats whatever we eat. Typically we eat red meat twice a week, beans once a week, and we also eat chicken and turkey. Right now she loves, loves, loves spaghetti and garlic toast with a side a salad. She also loves to eat home made refried beans on a tortilla with cheese and she also eats Mexican cornbread. We eat a variety of chicken dishes (chicken noodle soup, chicken tenders). We recently discovered that she loves talapia and will ask for fish at least twice a week.

Her snacks consist of mainly fruits and veggies and the occasional bagel with cream cheese. Snacks include; bananas, apples, organes, carrot sticks, broccoli, gold fish crackers, ritz crackers and cheerios. Again, she likes variety.

Variety seems to work best for us. Is she eats the same meals and snacks day after day she gets tired pretty quickly and she will not eat. So, I am constantly switching things around. I have learned to not stress over her eating. I have realized that it is a hit and miss with her eating. There are days where she eats really well and then there are days where she barely eats. I have learned to just go with the flow and when she does not eat much I make sure she at least snacks throughout the day (if that makes any sense). It's like her pedi is always telling me..... she will eat when she is hungry and if she doesn't eat then that's okay too.

What does your toddler eat?
