Hi Lovelies!
I thought I would talk about one of my favorite songs by one of my all time favorite bands- Bon Jovi.
The lyrics:
"Livin' On A Prayer"
Once upon a time
Not so long ago
Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...it's tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love - for love
She says we've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot
[Chorus:]
Whooah, we're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer
Tommy's got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, it's tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers baby it's okay, someday
We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot
[Chorus]
We've got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got
[Chrous]
What the song is about and how it inspires me:
This song is about a fictional working class couple, Tommy and Gina, who are struggling to make ends meet and to maintain their relationship. Husby and I have always been able to identify with this song because of what was going on in our lives at the time the song was released. We were going through a particularly difficult time with my parents, living in a low income apartment, working work study jobs, barely had any furniture, and going to school full time. Times were hard and they were lean. However, we made through and our love for each other is strong than ever. In fact, we have been together for 20 years and we have a beautiful little girl that brings us so much joy.
And now for your listening pleasure, Livin' on a Prayer:
Well, there you have it Lovelies! My favorite song and how it has inspired me through the years.
What is your favorite song and how has it inspired you?
