Happy Homemaker Monday

Good Morning Lovelies, how are you all this Monday?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Ours was very relaxing. We just stayed at home, watched movies and football, and made some cookies and hot chocolate.

Well, it's Monday and that means it's time for Happy Homemaker Monday!!

The weather outside is:

On the breakfast plate this morning:

Nutella toast and milk

As I look outside my window:

The sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky.

Right now I am:

Sitting on the couch, writing this post, and watching Gilmore Girls and working on my new food blog.

As I look around the house:

The kitchen needs to be cleaned, and the living room and dining room needs to be picked up. The house needs some TLC.

On today's To Do list:

Laundry
Kitchen
Living room
Dining room
Bathrooms
Bedrooms

On the menu this week:

Monday: BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, corn
Tuesday: Leftovers from Monday
Wednesday: Baked potatoes and salad

Thursday: Possible Christmas dinner ( Turkey legs, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade bread, Nutella swirled cheesecake bars).
Friday: Christmas dinner with friends
Saturday: Leftovers from Thursday
Sunday: Beans, cornbread, fried potatoes
In the craft basket:

I'm still working on stickers for my shop and  hope to have a sale sometime this week. And I am hoping to add some more planner bands that I have made in the last couple of days.

Looking forward to this week:

Christmas with family and friends.

Devotionals, prayers, and bible verses:

Cadence- 4 Months

Hi Lovelies,

Cadence is 4 months old!! I cannot believe how fast time is flying with her. She is such a joy and she makes us smile every day. Right now, I am cherishing these moments for as long as I can and I am soaking up all of the baby snuggles. Also, I am enjoying seeing how Angelina interacts with Cadence. She is very protective of her and just loves her to pieces.

Anyway, here are Cadence's monthly stats:

Weight:  Right now she is 14 pounds 6 oz (at her last doctor's appointment). Her four month checkup will be in a couple of weeks since she is sick right now.

Height:We will find this out when goes in for her next well check appointment which will be some time in the next week or two.

Eating: She is exclusively formula fed and right now she is taking 6 ounces every 4-5 hours and I have been giving her some rice cereal but I don't think she likes it right now.

Sleeping: She is taking a nap after every feeding (most of the time) and she has been sleeping through the night.

Clothing size: She is 3-6 month clothing and sometimes she wears 6-9 months clothes. It just depends on the brand

Likes:  She loves to lay in the floor and loves to kick her legs!! She loves her daddy and sister!

Dislikes: She hates having a wet diaper.

Playing: Right now she isn't playing, but that will change in the next few months. We can't wait to see how she plays with Angelina.

Milestones: She has been working on rolling over from her back to her belly for the last couple of weeks and today she finally did it!! She has even rolled from her belly to her back. Now she is trying to crawl, so my prediction is that she will be crawling by the time she is 5 months.

Well, there are her monthly stats!! I am not sure if I will be sharing pictures of Cadence just yet. I have to discuss this with the Hubster. It's completely up to him if I do.

Good night my Lovelies!!!

A Christmas Recipe: Christmas Crunch Popcorn

 Christmas Crunch Popcorn

Ingredients

1/2 cup popping popcorn kernels, or 2 bags tender white popcorn
1 (12 oz) bag Vanilla Candy Melts (such as Wilton Candy Melts)
1 1/3 cups broken pretzel pieces
1 (12 oz) bag green and red Milk Chocolate or Mint M&Ms Red, green and white Sprinkles.

Directions

Pop popcorn in a popcorn popper into a large bowl (or alternately in the microwave if using microwave bags of popcorn) according to manufactures directions. Remove any unpopped popcorn kernels. Toss in broken pretzel pieces and M&Ms.

Melt Vanilla Candy Melts in a microwave safe bowl on 50% power in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and smooth. Drizzle half of melted chips over popcorn mixture, then stir, tossing gently a few times with a rubber spatula. Then drizzle remaining half of melted chips over popcorn, and gently stir mixture until evenly coated (don't over stir though or your sprinkles wont stick if the white chips begin to set and harden).
Pour mixture into a single layer onto wax paper. Sprinkle entire mixture evenly with sprinkles (as many as you'd like) before vanilla chips set. Allow to cool and harden, then gently break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Note: I was able to fill 8 - 9 1/2"x 4" party treat bags about 2/3 full with this recipe, just to let you know so you have an idea for gift giving.

Enjoy and have a great Sunday Lovelies!

P.S. I will be back with a few more posts later today (Cadence's 3 month stats, currently post, and a one or two Christmas related posts).

XOXO

What I learned from Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies. I have seen this movie so many times that it has come determinantal to my well being. As an example, I firmly believe that it takes exactly three weeks to fall in love and learn mambo. In real life, this is impossible because no matter what in the end you will end up with spaghetti arms.

Here as some of the observations I have made after watching Dirty Dancing for the 12478576899375th time:

1. Never get involved with the entertainment staff

If you hang out with the entertainment staff, you will inevitably find yourself mixed up with a bad crowd. You will disobey your parents, help a stranger get an illegal abortion, learn the mambo, and hang with people of a different socioeconomic status. You will also have the time of your life.

2. Watermelons are awful conversations starters

Or are they? Because Baby got to meet and dance with Johnny Castle. And like they say, the rest is history.

3. The Catskills in 1963 were a progressive wonderland

4. Rick and Sam retired to the Catskills

Rick and Sam retired and opened up their own mountain side resort where they lived happily ever after, gambling, and judging the youth of America.

5. Trying on wigs is only for the rich

6. Guys who attend the Cornell School of Hotel Management are the worst.

7. Jake Hauseman is the ideal father

Baby thought she would never find a guy as great as her dad. He has high expectations for his daughters even though they do disagree from time to time.

8. And the most important lesson of all.

Because if you’re anything like Baby Houseman, good things in the form of Johnny Castle will happen to you. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

So, yes Dirty Dancing is fantastic and I will never get tired of it. I will bask in the glory that is Dirty Dancing and enjoy every minute of the movie.

3 Things That Will Help Any Mom Stay Sane

Hi Lovelies!

Even though I am a SAHM with 2 kids, I still do not a have a routine set. You would think that being a SAHM my house would be clean all day. Well, that's not true, my house is always a mess (I usually clean it at night after the kids are in bed), and there is always a pile of laundry that either needs to be washed or folded and put away. As you can see, I am not perfect, but there are things that I can do to make my days go smoother and to keep the laundry from piling up:

1.  Prepare the night before.

Sometime after dinner and before bedtime, make sure that you are ready for the morning. I sign folders and any other papers. I will pack her lunch when she doesn't want to eat in the cafeteria. I then straighten the living room and dining room and I will clean the kitchen (sometimes I don't do this every night).

2.  Use your planner.

Have a planner session every week ( I do mine on Sundays) where you write down any appointments, school events, and other important dates. This really does help in the structure of my day.

3. Take time for you.

This is very important, just do something that you enjoy for a few minutes at night. I usually read or I will write in a journal. Recently I have started coloring in an adult coloring book and this has really helped to relax at night right before bed.

How do you stay sane throughout the day?

Saved by the Bell: Interesting facts

Hi Lovelies!

It's 11:15pm on a Tuesday night and I am sitting here watching "Saved by the Bell" on Netflix.

Now, I know I am not the only one who still watches this show, right? And I know I am not the only one who watched the "Saved by the Bell" movie on the Lifetime channel (Please tell me that I am not the only one).

Anyways, I thought I would be fun to find some interesting facts about the show, so I did a quick search on imdb. com and found quite a few interesting facts and an awesome video. So, here we go!!!

Saved by the Bell: Interesting Facts--

Though Kelly was scripted as Zack's girlfriend for the show, the actress who played the role of Lisa, Lark Voorhies, was Mark-Paul Gosselaar's real-life girlfriend up to and during the Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style (1992) movie for three years, according to several interviews given by Gosselaar.

The set of the school was never struck down completely after the show stopped production. It has been used and redressed on many shows that air on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon since then, such as So Raven (2003) and iCarly (2007).

Elizabeth Berkley originally auditioned for the role of Kelly Kapowski and was turned down in favor of Tiffani Thiessen, but the producers liked Elizabeth so much that they created the Jessie Spano character especially for her to play.

In every show the same classroom was used just rearranged for the subject being taught.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar had to dye his hair blond every two weeks while the show was in production.

Although the five friends were supposed to be the same age, Dustin Diamond was actually 12 years old when the series started. Elizabeth Berkley was 17 and the rest were all 15. Only Diamond was still at high school age at the end of the series.

One of the degrees in Mr. Belding's office is for Kung Fu. It is above the filing cabinet next to his desk.

Before the candidates for the role of Kelly Kapowski were whittled down to two (Tiffani Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley), the third finalist was Jennie Garth. Garth would go on to star in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), along with Thiessen and Saved by the Bell (1989) guest star Tori Spelling

The series is notorious for frequently introducing new characters who subsequently disappear in later episodes. Some of the more glaring examples of characters who fall victim to this trend are Jessie's new stepbrother, Eric Tramer (Joshua Hoffman), who, after making peace with the gang and agreeing to live with Jessie permanently, is never seen or spoken of again; Violet Bickerstaff (Tori Spelling), Screech's girlfriend, who disappears mid-way through season 3; and Laura (Jennifer McComb), a homeless girl and Zack's love interest from the two-part Christmas episode, who is to live with the Morris family until her father finds a job, but who is never seen or referred to after these episodes. However, the most obvious example is Tori Scott (Leanna Creel), who transfers to Bayside at the beginning of season four and appears sporadically throughout the season, but she disappears before the graduation episode. Her fate was never revealed.

On February 4, 2015, original cast members Elizabeth Berkley, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dennis Haskins, Mario Lopez and Tiffani Thiessen appeared in a reunion sketch on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2014). The sketch featured Fallon as a student at Bayside High, with the show's original sets reused and many of its most famous moments spoofed, including Berkley's infamous "I'm so excited!" line from the episode Jessie's Song. However, Dustin Diamond and Lark Voorhies' did not appear. Diamond's absence was alternately explained by a previous work engagement (he was doing a comedy show on that day), his recent arrest in Wisconsin after a bar fight where he was accused of non-fatally stabbing a man, and his poor relationship with the rest of the cast. Voorhies' representative said she was hugely busy with work and did not participate because she had no time.

Both Dustin Diamond (Screech Powers) and Tori Spelling (Violet Bickerstaff) shared their first on-screen kiss while on the show.

So, I have to ask this: Did you watch Saved by the Bell?

Good night!!

21 Best Weight-Loss Tips of All Time

Hi Lovelies!

I am beginning my weight loss journey and wanted to share some tips that I am finding very helpful. Enjoy!!!

With about 1,000 waking minutes in everyday, you'll find plenty of opportunities to slip these tips into your routine and watch the scale go down. If you've already begun your weight loss, these can maximize your efforts and speed results. Here are successful strategies to cut calories and burn fat that take 60 seconds or less.

Got more than one minute? Check out these 21 Best Weight-Loss Tips Of All Time for painless ideas that really work.

1. Mix a juice spritzer
Combine your favorite juice (half of your usual amount) with plain or sparkling water. You can cut up to 85 calories per glass-and lose 5 pounds or more a year.

2. Walk while you talk
Burn calories while you talk on the phone: Do the laundry (68 calories), set the table (85 calories), or water plants (102 calories).

Values based on a 150-pound person and 30 minutes of activity.

3. Study the wrapper
At a quick glance, that candy bar appears to contain 220 calories. But a closer look may reveal that it (or a bottle of juice, bag of crackers, or bag of nuts) provides two or more servings--which more than doubles those calories.

4. Sip green tea before a walk

The caffeine frees fatty acids so that you burn fat more easily. And the polyphenols (antioxidant compounds) in green tea appear to work with caffeine to increase calorie burn. (If you have high blood pressure, skip this tip.)

5. Pack a lunch
Dining out more than five times a week may make you eat more--nearly 300 calories a day--than if you dine out less frequently.

6. Dip your bread
Use olive oil in place of butter. It's healthier and may also help you eat less. In a recent study, dippers ate a total of 52 fewer calories on average than those who used butter.

7. Sprinkle flax on cereal

High-fiber, ground flaxseed can help curb your appetite and eliminate calories. Add it to yogurt or muffin and bread mixes. Available in health food stores.

8. Schedule a blood test
About 1 in every 12 women (most of whom don't know it) has an under active thyroid, which can slow down her metabolism.

9. Supersize your H2O
Buy the big bottle when it comes to good-for-you stuff such as water: You'll drink more.

10. Eat a chunky salad
Chop carrots, celery, sweet potatoes, zucchini, or other veggies instead of shredding or slicing. It takes more effort to munch bigger pieces; you'll do more chewing and eat less during the main course.

RELATED: These 5 South Beach Salads will fill you up without packing on pounds.

11. Call a friend

Fill loneliness with talk and companionship--not cookies.

12. Log your food

Writing down what you eat can help you cut calories and stay in control because you're more accountable. No need to record it perfectly or review what you wrote: The benefit is in the writing itself.

13. Buy small
The bigger the package, the more you're likely to eat--up to 44% more, according to one study.

14. Break into a jog
If you already jog, speed up to a sprint. These brief intervals allow you to cover more distance, burn fat and calories-without lengthening your workout. The increased impact will also help make your bones stronger.

15. Drop and do 10
Before you pry open that tub of ice cream, do 10 situps or pushups. Doing something physical can put you back in touch with your body--and your goals.

16. Slurp chunky soup
People who ate soup containing large vegetable pieces reported feeling fuller and ate 20% less during lunch than those who had a pureed soup made of the same ingredients.

17. Blot the fat
You can dab off about a teaspoon of oil-or 40 calories and 4.5 grams of fat-from two slices of pizza.

18. Skip "light" foods
The weight of food--not just the fat and calories--is what fills you up. Eat less and still feel satisfied with low-calorie heavyweights such as oranges, strawberries, grapefruit, cantaloupe, cooked spinach, collard greens, and broccoli.

PLUS:
While dieting can definitely help you reach your ideal body weight, make sure not to ditch these 7 supposedly "forbidden" foods that actually help you lose weight.

19. Order fish
Varieties rich in omega-3 fatty acids--tuna, mackerel, cod, and salmon--may help you drop pounds by improving fat metabolism. Overweight people who ate a reduced-calorie diet that included fish every day lost about 20% more weight than those on a fish-free diet.

BEWARE: Not all fish are healthy. Here are 12 Fish You Should Never, Ever Eat.

20. Trick your taste buds
Sucking on a menthol/eucalyptus cough drop or hard mint can stop cravings instantly.

21. Post inspiration
To keep yourself on track, place quotes in strategic spots where you might need some motivation: on the fridge, TV, dashboard, or computer. Some suggestions: "I'll take this one day at a time."
