New Year's Resolutions

Hi Lovelies!

Happy Almost New Year!!! Today I'm going to talk about my New Year's Resolutions. I make them every year only to break them two months later. So, this year I'm take a new approach and I'm going say New Year's Aspirations instead of resolutions. Maybe now I will keep them and accomplish them this time.

New Year's Aspirations:

1. To lose weight. This is always first on my list and it is always the first one that I break. In order to accomplish this one I have joined Weight Watchers (again). Hopefully third times a charm. I hope to stick with the program this time.

2. To become more organized. For this I'm going to overhaul my home management notebook and update my planners every week.

3. To be a better to my husband

4. To be one step closer to graduating. After this year I should only one more year and then I will have my master's degree.

5. To embrace turning 40 in February. I have decided that I am going to enjoy turning 40 and I refuse to be upset about it. I have a wonderful life and an awesome husband and daughter.

So, Lovelies..... those are my New Year's Aspirations. What are yours?

Sunday Social

Hi Lovelies! I'm linking up with Neely for Sunday Social. Grab a button and play along!

Here are this week's questions:

1. Favorite New Years eve you’ve had before

I think some of my favorite New Year eve celebrations were when I was in junior high and my friends and I would sleep over at one of our houses and we would stay up all night talking about boys, giving each other make overs, and listening to music.

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?

Since it's supposed to rain all day, we are staying home, relaxing, and eating some yummy food. Oh, and of course watching the ball drop!

3. Name a book we should all read come January?

I'm not sure if everyone shares my taste in books, but I am about to begin "Beaches". I love the movie (Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey star in it) and I think I will love the book just as much. It's one of my recent kindle finds.

4. What are your new years resolutions?

New Year's resolutions..... sometimes I'm afraid to make these because I almost always break them, so  I have decided to call them aspirations instead.

 My new years aspirations:

To lose weight (obviously)
To be a better wife to my husband
To be one step closer to graduating
To become more organized
To enjoy life more
To embrace turning 40 in February

So far that's all I have.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Let's talk about hair, baby!

Hi Lovelies!

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate, and sometimes it has a mind of its own. You see, I was blessed with fine, naturally curly hair that not only has curly pieces, but, straight pieces, and wavy pieces.

I have always wanted my hair to look like this:

But, I just don't look good in long hair (I'm short so long hair is not my thing). So, since I have been blessed with curly hair I have decided that I just need to accpet it and learn to work with it.

This how I want my hair to look:

I think I can work with this hairstyle. I will need to let my bangs grow out and I will need to get a perm to even out my curls and to make all uniform. So, I think this the hairstyle that I'm going to get in a couple of months.

What do you think?

Some of my favorite songs

Hi Lovelies!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. My Saturday will find me busy with housework, laundry, and playing with "A". Hubby is working on the dryer (it just stopped working on Christmas) and hopefully he has found the problem (he thinks it's the switch). I hope to have my dryer back soon, if this doesn't solve the problem then we might have to buy a new dryer (which we are trying to avoid).

Anyway, today I thought I would share some of my favorite songs with you. Now, I'm going to warn you but most of this list consists of songs of the eighties (Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Journey, etc). I hope you enjoy them as much as I love singing along with them. FYI- I'm introducing these songs to "A" and so far she loves Bon Jovi (just like her Momma).

Here's the list:

1. Livin on a prayer- Bon Jovi

2. Rock Star- Nickelback

3. Don't stop believing- Journey

4.  Dead or Alive- Bon Jovi

5. We're not gonna take it- Twisted Sister

6. You Give Love a Bad Name- Bon Jovi

7. 18 and Life- Skid Row

8. I Remember You- Skid Row

9. Sweet Child O' Mine- Guns N Roses

10. November Rain- Guns N Roses

Rock On Lovelies!!!

Christmas 2012 Recap

Hi Lovelies!

Sorry about the unintentional blogging break. I have some technical difficulties with my computer which have been fixed (I hope!), so I'm back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Ours was really nice. On Sunday we went to a church service with Hubby's aunt and two cousins. The church service was beautiful and the songs were amazing. "A" sat through her first church service, she watching everyone and was listening to the song (she even sang a little bit, it was so cute!).

Tuesday (Christmas Eve) we had to cancel trip to the grandparents because my BIL was sick and they didn't want us to catch whatever he had. So, we hope to reschedule in the next few days. We decided to skip the Christmas eve service at church because "A" did not nap and was very cranky, plus it was too cold to take her out. So, we stayed home had dinner, watched some Christmas movies, and just relaxed together. As soon as "A" was asleep for the night, we played Santa (I'll add pics tomorrow). So fun!

Wednesday we woke up and went into the living room with "A" and as soon as she saw her presents she got all excited and kept saying, "WOW, Santa was here". We also had a white Christmas, we even had a blizzard!!!!!  She had so much fun opening her presents. She loved her little people doll house and her Minnie mouse vacuum, cleaner.

Hubby even brought some snow inside so "A" could build a little snowman (I'll post pics tomorrow). We spent the day playing with toys, eating a yummy supper, and just relaxing.

It was a great Christmas!!!

Creative Juices

Hi Lovelies!

We had a busy, but fun filled day. "A" bowled for the first time (yes, my toddler bowled!!) and she knocked down 6 pins all by herself! I was one proud Momma. We had so much fun! "A" had fun waiting for the bowling ball to come back up through the hole (her words, not mine!) and she would get excited every time she would see it. She's such a funny little girl.

I thought I would share with you what I have been creating lately.

First, I made these blankets a few months ago. These are so easy and fun to make.

The next item is a friendship bracelet. You remember these don't you? I used to make them all the time when I was a kid and give them away as presents to all my friends.

I also started making earrings as well. I didn't realize how easy they were to make until I made my first pair last night.

I will be opening and Esty shop in the next few weeks and these items will be in the shop. It's a big step as well as a scary one, but it's a step that I am going to take.

So, what have you created lately?

Have a nice weekend and I'll see ya tomorrow for Sunday Social!!

"A's" Favorites

Hi Lovelies!

I meant to write this post yesterday and I just did not get around to it. Today is all about "A's" favorites. She's a fiesty, independent, and adorable 2 year old, who loves to make her Mommy and Daddy laugh all day long. She loves to dance and make up silly songs. Here are just a few of her favorites right now (these can change at any time):

Dora the Explorer- she loves this show! Just the other day she said her first spanish word, rojo, which means red. We were so proud of her. Usually after watching Dora, she will grab her monkey back pack and we reinact the entire episode. It's so darn cute!

Doc McStuffins- this is a new show that we just started watching. She loves this one too. After watching an episode she will give Mommy, Daddy, and some of her stuffed animals checkups. Again, it's so darn cute!

Mega Blocks (pink)- she plays with these all day long. She loves to make towers and then she likes to knock them over.

Step 2 Kitchen- she likes to "cook" and she even tries to uses my pans on her little stove. She makes the best pretend eggs and pancakes and I hope she has my love of cooking and baking when she is older.

These are just a few of her favorite things. What do your children like to play and what are their favorite things?

Have a happy Saturday Lovelies!

Favorite Childhood Books

Happy Friday Lovelies! First I want to welcome my new followers to the blog! Thanks for reading and following! Today I thought I would talk about a few of my favorite childhood books. Reading has always been one of my favorite pasttimes. I love "getting lost" in a good book and "going along for the ride" with the characters. My mom was an avid reader and I'm proud to say that I love reading because of her. She instilled in the love of reading and I will forever be greatful to her for that.

Here a few of my all time favorite childhood books.

Where the Wild Things Are
This my favorite bedtime book when I was a child. My mom read this to me every single night and I loved it so much. Now, the hubs and I read this to our daughter every night as well. It's always the first book that she will give us at night.

The Little House Series

These were my first chapter books. Oh, how I loved them and I think I read them all in about 2 weeks when I was in the third grade. I still read them today. I just love how they are written and I am instantly transported to the pioneer days.

The Ramona Series

I started reading these after the Little House books. I loved these as well. When I first started reading them I couldn't wait for the next book just to see what sort of shenanigans Ramona would get herself into.

Well, there's my list! Hope you enjoyed it! What were your favorite books as a child?

P.S. The next post in this little series will be about the books read throughout my teenage years. So, look for that tomorrow!

Laundry- the most hated chore

Hi Lovelies!

Today we are going to talk about laundry, one of the most hated chores (in my opinion).

Laundry, the dreaded "L" word, the chore that never seems to end. Every day I repeat the same cycle; separate, wash, dry, fold, put away......separate, wash, dry, fold, put away and so on and so on..... Now, I know that I can do laundry once a week, but I just don't want to spend that one doing laundry all day long. So, what I do is wash and dry one load a day, however, it does not get folded up until the end of the week. I just let it pile up in the laundry baskets until I get tired of looking at it or the husband tells me he's tired of hunting for his clothes.

Okay, I know what you're thinking...... Angie, why would you do that? My answer? I don't know, maybe I'm just too lazy to fold the clothes and put them away. Ladies, I need help, maybe some sort of intervention or maybe a support group (laundry haters anonymous). I"m tired of living out if laundry baskets and so is my hubby!!!

Maybe if my laundry room looked this then maybe I wouldn't mind doing the laundry.

So, Ladies, my question for you is.... how do you keep with your laundry?

Have a wonderful Thursday!!!

~Angie

P.S. I found the cool link up and just wanted to post the button. It looks like fun and I love meeting new people!

What My Toddler Eats

 Hi Lovelies!

I have tried to be strict with what "A" eats from day one. Her diet consists of lean proteins, fruits, veggies, and limited carbs. Although be let have the occasional sweet, such as, a small cookie, or pumpkin bread. Since she started drinking out of a sippy cup we have limited her to water, milk, and deluted apple juice. She loves water and will typically down 3-4 cups a day. However, we do limit milk to 1-2 cups a day. Here is a break down of what she eats daily.

When it comes to breakfast she likes variety. If she eats the same thing every day she gets tired of it pretty quickly and then will not eat anything. She typically asks for a banana upon waking up. About an hour later we will eat one of the following breakfast: (1) eggs, toast, fruit (2) pancakes and fruit (3) cereal and fruit. All of these are served with a glass of milk. I let her choose what breakfast she wants to give a little bit of independence.

As for lunch, variety is the key. She loves chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. She will request this at least twice a week. She also likes grilled cheese sandwiches, heated turkey and cheese sandwiches, and sometimes she will eat leftovers from the night before. With all lunches we serve veggies and fruit. She also loves to eat salads and will request carrot sticks and apple chunks with her lunch. Girlfriend loves her  fruits and veggies.

When it comes to dinner she will eat a variety of foods. She eats whatever we eat. Typically we eat red meat twice a week, beans once a week, and we also eat chicken and turkey. Right now she loves, loves, loves spaghetti and garlic toast with a side a salad. She also loves to eat home made refried beans on a tortilla with cheese and she also eats Mexican cornbread. We eat a variety of chicken dishes (chicken noodle soup, chicken tenders). We recently discovered that she loves talapia and will ask for fish at least twice a week.

Her snacks consist of mainly fruits and veggies and the occasional bagel with cream cheese. Snacks include; bananas, apples, organes, carrot sticks, broccoli, gold fish crackers, ritz crackers and cheerios. Again, she likes variety.

Variety seems to work best for us. Is she eats the same meals and snacks day after day she gets tired pretty quickly and she will not eat. So, I am constantly switching things around. I have learned to not stress over her eating. I have realized that it is a hit and miss with her eating. There are days where she eats really well and then there are days where she barely eats. I have learned to just go with the flow and when she does not eat much I make sure she at least snacks throughout the day (if that makes any sense). It's like her pedi is always telling me..... she will eat when she is hungry and if she doesn't eat then that's okay too.

What does your toddler eat?

Sunday Social

Hi Lovelies!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. Right now, my heart is heavy thinking about the tragedy in Connecticut. I cannot imaging what the families are going through at this moment. I have been holding Baby Girl tighter today and I have been giving her more hugs and kisses and telling how much I love her all day long. There will be a day of blog silence on Tuesday to show support for the victims of this terrible act.
Details are in this post.

Now, it time for this week's questions!

1. What the wallpaper on your cellphone?

A pink swirly thing that was on my phone when I purchased it.

2. What do you keep beside your bed?

Nothing. We don't have tables by our bed right now, or even in our room. But if we did have table by the bed.... I would keep my glasses there, as well as, books, magazines, and a glass of water.

3. What is your least favorite chore?

Laundry. I hate, hate, hate, laundry. I would rather vacuum the entire house than do laundry.

4. If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine what would it be?

Laundry. That's how much I hate it!

5. What do you do to prevent anger?

I sit on the bed and have a really good cry. It always helps.

6. What's your favorite holiday of the year and why?

Halloween, because it is the one time of year that you can be whoever you want to be and it's okay!!

Okay, lovelies. It's your turn. Grab the button, answer the questions, link up, and have some fun!

Happy Sunday all!

Silence and Support of Sandy Hook

To the Blog World and Anyone Else who Wants to Help:

Yesterday, tragedy struck so many of us in ways we did not foresee. An elementary school and small town in Connecticut was shattered by a mass shooting. We knew we wanted to help and we came up with this:

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. We will post the button and that's it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

"Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING."

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can't imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let's make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

 Love,
The Blog World

Unthinkable

Yesterday the unthinkable happend in a town in Connecticut.

27 dead. 18 children. Shooting. Elementary School.

When I first heard about it I decided right then that I was not going to watch the news or read anything online discussing the tradegy.... that is until late last night. I stumbled upon an article on Yahoo about the President addessing the tradegy. I read it. I cried. I cuddle my precious baby girl in my arms.

Unthinkable.

I cannot imagine the pain, the heartache that these families are experiencing at this moment. No one should have to feel this type of pain. Those innocent children did not deserve this.

Unthinkable.

My prayers are with the families who have been effected by this senseless act of violence.

Hold you babies a little bit tighter tonight. Tell them you love them.

I did.

There's a first time for everything

Hi Lovelies,

I saw a few bloggers answer these questions a few weeks ago and I thought I would answer them to. It's a neat way for my new followers to get to know me better.

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning

Check on baby girl if she is still sleeping then I brush by teeth.

First think you reach for when open the fridge

Milk since it's the first thing baby girl asks for when she wakes up

First thing you do when you get the gym

Gym? What gym?

First thing you do when you get home from work

Since I am a SAHM I'm not sure how to answer this one. My day starts at 7am and doesn't end until around 930pm. But I break up our day into "small bits". Morning- breakfast, quick clean up, playtime. Lunch- eat lunch, naptime, playtime and quick clean up. Supper- Fix/eat supper, clean kitchen, bathtime, play/quiet time, bedtime.

First thing you wanted to be when you grew up

Like every little girl I wanted to be a teacher.

First choice beverage

Milk/juice-breakfast and water for the rest of the day

First choice breakfast

Pancakes

First choice dessert

Cheesecake. I make an awesome cheesecake

First song that comes to mind

Livin on a Prayer- Bon Jovi

First major purchase

My Tarus was my first major purchase

First job (aside from babysitting)

My first job was in high school working in the kitchen of a local restaurant

First time you flew on a plane

I think I was about 4 years old and we were going to Florida to see my grandparents

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me and I hope you continue to read. Have a lovely Friday Lovelies!

It's Okay......

Hi Lovelies!

I haven't linked up with Neely in a while, so thought I would do that today.

It's Okay....

It's okay that I'm watching Teen Mom 2 again. I can't help it, I love the show.

It's okay that I'm blogging when I should be working on my research paper.

It's okay that I'm excited for my two week break from school.

It's okay that I am making Christmas presents for my mother in law and m y brother in law's girlfriend. I think they will like the bracelets that I am making for them.

It's okay that I am looking forward to visiting family and friends next week.

It's okay that I am reading the Sweet Valley High books again. I need something to read that I do not have to think about.

What's okay with you today?

We Were On a Break!!!!

Hi Lovelies!

LOL! I've always wanted to title a post like that. I'm sure everyone knows where that particular quote comes from. Friends is one of my favorite shows and I have watched every season like a million times. It drives my husband crazy, but he has his football games, ESPN, and his XBOX games, and I have my tv shows; Friends, reality tv (keeping up the kardashians, Ice loves Coco, ect.). I know it's just a show, but I think it would cool to have friends that are that close. I guess that's why I like it so much.

Anyways, here are a few of my favorite quotes from the show ( in no particular order):

Have a happy Tuesday Lovelies!!!

~Angie
