Hi Lovelies!!

Wow....that last post really took a lot out of me. I just want to say thank you for all the nice comments on the post. I really appreciate it. It was the first time that I have ever written about it and I'm glad that I did.

Since writing that post I have decided to come out of hiding and talk about my family and day to day life. I plan to tell you more about Baby Girl and I will share pictures of her every now and then (this is the compromise that I made with my hubby, he's still nervous about me blogging about her). So, here are some future posts that I plan to write:

Women Connect 2012- My Story

I saw this link up on Becky's blog and decided to join the link up. I also decided that it was time to tell my story. It's a story that I do not share with many people, but feel that I need to share it now, for my daughter. It is a story that I will tell her when she is much much much older and when she can comprehend what I went through. So here it is. My Story.......

Hi. My name is Angie and I come from a dysfunctional family. I didn't have much of a childhood growing up. When I was 8 and my brother was 4 our parents divorced (because my mom found out that my dad was cheating on her). At first we lived with our mom ( she was a type 1 diabetic and took 3 shots a day), she worked as a dispatcher for the local Sherrif's department and did her best to take care of us despite her health. It was during this time that I met my future step mom at McDonald's on my 9th birthday. I remember thinking that I had seen her before (my dad had her picture and her daughter's picture taped on his sun visor in his patrol car. And when I questioned him about the pictures he told me that they two girls that were taken from their parents. Also, I remember not liking her at all, and wondering why my Dad wanted me to meet her, later that year, I found out why. We moved out of my mom's house on December 26th and moved in with my dad, his new girlfriend, and her 2 year old daughter that day. I remember asking him why we were moving in with him and he told me that our mom did not love us anymore and did not want us (when I was older, I think 18, my mom told me that the only way our dad would take was if my mom terminated all of her visitation rights to us, which she did).

My dad and his girlfriend married on Valentine's day in 1983. That was the day my life changed. I was no longer a child with no worries. I was suddenly responsible for taking care of the house, the cooking, and my younger brother, and my new stepsister. Later that year, October 1983, my youngest sister was born (my half sister). So, when I was 10, I was suddenly responsible for not only my brother and step sister, but a newborn as well. I remember my dad moving her crib into our bedroom (I shared a bedroom with all three of my siblings) because my step mom was tired of waking up in the middle of the night to feed the baby. I was the one who woke up at all hours of the night to feed and change the new baby all because my step mom was too lazy to do it. This went on until I was 20. I took care of everything while my parents worked during the week and then went out on the weekends. I remembered birthdays, I kissed the booboos, I chased away the boogie man and the closet monster, I enrolled them in school, and I went to parent teacher conferences and school plays. To this day, when my youngest sister is asked who her mother is, she will tell that person that her oldest sister is her mother, because she was the one who took care of her.

When I left home I was 20 years old and was madly in love with my boyfriend. My dad told me to break up with him or else, I chose to leave home. The night I left home I left with the clothes on my back and one change of clothes in a duffel bag. My boyfriend's parents opened their home to me and let me live with them. During that time, my dad, brother, and step sister stalked us for 5 years. We went through numerous police reports, and two protective orders (the first was denied because the judge knew my dad, and the second one was granted). After the second protective order was granted my family finally got the hint that I wanted nothing to do with and we were finally left alone.

It's been almost 20 years and I have only talked to my dad once.

It's been almost 20 years and my husband and I still together and we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. We were told we would never make past a year, well 20 years later we are stronger than ever and our love had grown even more.

Wow. I'm sorry it took so long to get the point of the post, but I feel to really know me I had to tell the back story. So here is what the post is supposed to be about....

Hi. My name is Angie and I am a SAHW and SAHM. I love my life and without the above backstory  I would not be the woman I am today and I would not have the beautiful family that I have today. Whenever I think about my life before, I always vow to never ever treat my daughter as I was treated. She is my life and my heart.

If you are still reading this I applaud you and welcome to my blog and to my life!

~Angie

P.S. Thank you Becky, if it weren't for this link up and reading other women's stories I would not have had the courage to write my story. Thanks for the encouragement!

Tasty Tuesday #5

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome to Tasty Tuesday! Today's recipe is one that I make every Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. It's super simple to make and it's so delicious.

Broccoli Rice Casserole (courtesy of Campbells.com)

What you will need:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
1 package (16 ounces) frozen chopped broccoli
1/3 cup milk
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)
1 jar (8 ounces) pasteurized process cheese sauce (like Cheez Whiz)
1 1/2 cups cooked regular long-grain white rice

 How to Make It

Heat the butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat.  Add the onion and cook until tender-crisp, stirring occasionally.

Stir the broccoli in the skillet and cook until it's tender-crisp, stirring occasionally.  Stir in the milk, soup, cheese sauce and rice.  Cook and stir until the cheese is melted.  Pour the broccoli mixture into a 2-quart shallow baking dish.

Bake at 350°F. for 30 minutes or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.

Enjoy!!!

Show and Tell: A Thanksgiving Recap

Hi Lovelies!

I'm linking up with Becky for Show and Tell Monday!!

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone........and I did not take any pictures (of Thanksgiving #2) because the Hubster forget to buy batteries!!!!!!!! Oh well, c'est la via!!!! Anyway, we had a great Thanksgiving, well actually we had two. One with just the three of us (Monday) and then one with my In Laws (Thursday).

Thanksgiving #1 (Monday):

We had so much fun!! We played outside most of the day (it was 80 degrees, hello" Indian Summer") and just enjoyed being lazy. I made supper, chicken thighs (Sam's was out of turkey breast so I had to settle for this), dressing (Hubster's grandmother's dressing), broccoli rice casserole, green beans, rolls, and cheesecake bars for dessert. The dressing was the best part of the meal. I followed the recipe (except I omitted the onions) and the dressing turned out so moist (I almost panicked when I saw how soupy it was after adding 5 of the 7 cups of chicken broth), and I was even given the ulitmate compliment by the Hubster, "It's almost as good as granny's". I was so happy and I know she would have been proud of me!!! After our Thanksgiving supper, relaxed and read books with Baby Girl. All in all, it was the perfect day!

Here some pictures of what we did:

Baby Girl and I made this

I made this! Granny cornbread dressing

We ate this!

Thanksgiving #2 (Thursday)

For this one we went to my In Laws. It was tad stressful but we did just fine. Baby Girl was able to play with her grandparents and with the puppies and that's all that matters. Why does Thanksgiving with family have to be so stressful? Am I the only one this happens to? Anyway, when we got home we played outside for a little bit and then came in and watched  a few Christmas specials on Netflix. We relaxed  and ate some leftovers. It was a pretty good day (after we got home)!

Both Thanksgivings were great and I realized how grateful and thankful I am to have such a wonderful husband and daughter. They are my world and they both have my heart. I love both of them to the moon and back.

How was your Thanksgiving?

A Thanksgiving Prayer

 Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.

So What Wednesday

Hi Lovelies!
Happy Almost Turkey Day!!! It's Wednesday and that means it's So What Wednesday!!!!! I'm linking up with Shannon again for this awesome link up.  Here is what I am saying So What to this week!

So What.....

If I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet. I have the lists I just need to start shopping

If I'm not excited to be spending Thanksgiving with my In Laws

If we had a Thanksgiving dinner at home on Monday (I wanted to try out my hubby's grandmother's dressing recipe) because I wanted to have at least on positive memory from this year's Thanksgiving.

If I watch Friends and Gilmore Girls over and over and over. I love these two shows!

If I need a haircut and I haven't made the appointment yet. I'm just too lazy right now.

If I need to make an eye appointment and I haven't yet. I'm afraid of hearing "You need bifocals" from my eye doctor

That's all I'm saying So What to this week. What are you saying So What to?

Tasty Tuesday #4

Hi Lovelies!!
Sorry about not posting Tasty Tuesday last week. I was working on my previous class and had some last minute assignments due last week. Anyway, here is today's Tasty Tuesday recipe.

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the garlic cheese biscuits from Red Lobster. Well, I found a recipe for them on the back of the Bisquick box (of all places!!!).  I love these and try to make them at least a couple of times a week.

Here's the recipe:

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

2 cups Bisquick
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2/3 cup milk
1/2 stick butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley

Mix the bisquick, milk, and cheese until well blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 11-12 minutes or until the tops start to turn a golden brown.

While the biscuits are baking, melt the butter, stir in garlic and parsley.

Remove biscuits from oven and brush butter mixture on top. Serve warm.

The hubster loves these!!!!

The Breastfeeding Post I Was Afriad to Write

I am so tired of the formula vs breastfeeding discussion. It seems that the topic of breastfeeding is always in the media.  Even celebrities are weighing in with their opinions. For example, People had an article on their website about Alanis Morressite and her son. She is a mom who breastfeeds and from the article, she really looks down on women who formula feed their children. She even went as far as to say that children who are formula fed will have behavioral problems and will be in therapy. Please tell me where she got her information? The research that I read states that babies who are formula fed are just as healthy as those babies who are breastfed. It really make me mad (for the lack of a better phrase) because I formula fed my daughter. It wasn't because I did not want to breastfeed, in fact, I wanted to breastfeed my baby. The truth is that I just was not physically able to. Believe me, it's been two years, and I still feel guilty for not being able to breastfeed her. At the time, I knew formula feeding was our best and only option and to this day I still feel this way. Anyway, here is my story.......

When I was pregnant with Baby girl I wanted to breastfeed. I knew breastfeeding was the best thing for my baby, I had read all of the research and even talked to my OB about it. Well, I'm ashamed to admit this....but it did not work out for me or my daughter. I went into labor with her 4 weeks early (35w6d), plus I had to have a c-section. When I was finally able to see her and to hold we tried to breastfeed. It did not end well. Her latch wasn't very strong and milk hadn't come in yet. I didn't even have the colostrum that I should have had. Let me just say the breastfeeding session ended with both of us in tears. I had no choice but to give her formula. We had also were told the she had jaundice as well so she needed eat and to poop so her billi levels would normalize. We tried the breastfeeding for the first two days but we always ended up giving her the formula. I pumped every two hours for two days and nothing. I was beyond frustrated, so I talked to her pediatrician and he told me that formula feeding was our only option if my milk was not coming in, so after discussing this with my husband, we decided to exclusively formula feed Baby girl.

I am happy with our decision. She has flourished and Baby girl has met all of her milestones very early. She started walking at 9 months for example. She is a fiesty 2 year old who has a mind of her own. She is a well behaved little girl, and she is "smart as a tack". She has hardly been sick (only a few colds here and there) and she is very healthy.

Yes, I still feel guilty for having to formula feed my baby but at the same time it was the best decision for both us at the time. When have Baby Vann #2 I will try to breastfeed again and if it doesn't work out then I will without hesitation formula feed again.

There's my two cents on the formula vs. breastfeeding debate. I hope I haven't offended anyone with this discussion. Thanks for reading!

Show and Tell Monday: Traditions

Hi Lovelies! Happy almost Turkey Day!!!!! After missing the last two Mondays, I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss this week. I'm linking up with Becky for Show and Tell Monday. This weeks questions are all about Thanksgiving and traditions.

1. Tell us about your family traditions for Thanksgiving

The traditions I love are: watching football and decorating the Christmas tree!

2. Tell us about your favorite foods

Turkey, dressing, and cheese and broccoli casserole are my top faves. As for dessert, bring on the cheesecake!!!!!

3. Show us a picture that reminds you of this holiday

I need to find the picture!

4. Tell us, do you wait to decorate for Christmas before or after Thanksgiving?

We usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving, but Baby girl asked (so sweetly) if we could put the tree up so we put it up after Halloween sans ornaments.

5. Tell us what you are thankful for this year

My family and our health!

It's Okay

Hi Lovelies! Sorry I have been MIA the last couple of days and I missed all of the link ups that I participate in.  But I had to finish last minute assignments and a paper for my class which ended ended yesterday. The class is finished, YAAAAAY, and now next class starts today. It's feels good to get back into blogging again, I missed it!

So, today, I'm linking up with Neely for It's Okay Thursday!

It's Okay......

to not be a fan of the Twilight movies

to have an unhealthy obsession with caramel hot chocolate...yummy

to to be sore from running around the back yard with Baby girl yesterday. Just to her laugh makes up for it.

to use naptime to blog hop instead of study

to be thinking about my Turkey Day menu

to have an obsession with fuzzy socks

to not like People's choice for Sexiest Man Alive (Channing Tatum, come on!!)

to have had all of my housework done including the laundry before 9am today. (It helps that I did most of it last night before bed)

What's Okay with you this week?

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday Lovelies! This week has been long and crazy! I have been trying to write a paper and complete two more assignments before class ends next week and we celebrated the Hubster's birthday yesterday.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away! I'm linking up with Neely for Sunday Social and this week's questions are all about Thanksgiving.

Favorite Thanksgiving Memory:

The first Thanksgiving we celebrated as a family of three!

Favorite Thanksgiving Food:

Broccoli and cheese casserole and pecan pie

What is a Thanksgiving Tradition you and your family have?

We always watch the Dallas game. When I still lived with my parents we did the same thing at my grandparents house (my Oma was big Dallas Cowboy fan) and the tradition continued with my hubby (we have Thanksgiving at our house now and he is a big Dallas Cowboy fan!)

What are you most looking forward to about this Thanksgiving?

I'm looking foward to just spending time with my hubby and daughter (I have no idea if my in laws are coming since MIL hasn't told me yet!)

Friday Randoms

Hi Lovelies! I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday so far! We have had a fun filled Friday morning and afternoon. We took Baby girl to her first playgroup today. She seemed to enjoy it, she was running from toy to toy and chasing all of the other littles around. I hope to make this a weekly outing for her.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is less then two weeks away! I need to start working on my menu this weekend. I'm going to attempt to make hubby's granny's (I think that's right) dressing recipe this Sunday. I hope I can do it justice because she was phenomenal cook. I'm a bit nervous, but the recipe seems simple.

I have been seeing these all over facebook and the blog universe and thought I would finally check them out. I can't believe that I just discovered this today!!! Here some of the ones that I like.

 This is so me!!!

These are just a few that I found funny! Have a lovely day Lovelies!!!!!!

Tasty Tuesday #3

This dish is a staple in my house. I make it once a week and it makes enough for at least 2 lunches and 2 dinners.

Creamy Chicken and Noddles

You will need:

4 cups chicken stock

2 cans cream of chicken soup

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

2-3 cups chicken, shredded

3/4 bag of egg noodles

veggies of your choosing (I add chopped carrots to mine, but you can add chopped celery and and chopped onions)

salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Dump everything in your crock-pot except the noodles. Cook on high for roughly thirty minutes, and then set to low.

Let it simmer all day and make your house smell amazing.

About thirty minutes before meal time, dump in the egg noodles.

Cook noodles until satisfied (I let mine thoroughly cook so they would have a dumpling-like creamy texture).

Add salt and pepper as needed.

Enjoy!

Show and Tell Monday

Hi Lovelies! The internet has been acting moody all day so I'm finally able to post, the Hubster was able to get it running again (gotta love that man!).  This week's Show and Tell Monday is all about careers and I;m linking up with Becky to talk about my career! So here it is! Enjoy!

 1. Tell us what you studied in college. Is your job now related to what you studied?

While in college I studied Psychology and was a work study student. As a worl study study student I worked in administration offices. Then in 2008 I started working full time as a department secretary at the university where I recieved my BS. Now, I am a SAHM. So, as to how being a SAHM relates to by what I studies, I can say that what I studied does relate in a way. As a pyschology major, we studied all of the major theories and theorists and now as I watch my daughter grow up I can totally see what developmental stage she is in thanks to Freud, Erikson, Piaget, etc...

2. Tell us what your everyday job looks like.

Being a SAHM, my schedule revolves around my daughter. Our typical day looks something like this:

Morning (6a,-12pm) Breakfast, playtime, arts and crafts/snack time, a little TV time (30 minutes max),
Afternoon (12pm-300pm) Lunch, naptime, Mommy's quiet time (study, blog, catch up on chores), snack time
Evening (3pm-8pm) Outside time, playtime, a little TV time (30 minutes max), supper, bathtime, reading time, bedtime.

3. Do you have a picture of you at work? Show us.

4. In 10 years, what do you see yourself doing? Same thing? More? Tell us.

I would love to continue to be a SAHM plus own my own dessert shop selling cheesecakes and other delicious desserts.
5. Tell us what you have learned, and what {if any} recommendations you may have for those looking to go into the field you are in.

Being a SAHM is one of the hardest jobs I have ever had. It is also the most rewarding as well.

Have a nice evening!!

Anyone know that song?

Hi Lovelies!!! Look what magically appeared last night!

I know it's only November 2nd, but it was worth it too see Baby girl's face light up when she saw "her" Christmas tree last night. Right now there aren't any ornaments on yet because we are waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate it. Actually, I have thought about decorating it with a Thanksgiving theme. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Halloween Recap Plus a Mom Fail

 Dear Lovelies,

Halloween 2012 is in the books. And it was the best Halloween we have ever had. Baby girl has so much fun yesterday! She went trick or treating twice.....once in the afternoon and then again in the evening. She was so excited to put her costume on last night! She kept saying that "Halloween is at my house!" and "Let's go trick or treating!". Last night, we decided to take her to our local mall for trick or treating. She walked most to the time and she got a basket full of candy and a balloon from Old Navy.

The Mr. and I even "dressed up". He wore his cooking monster t-shirt and I wore my Elmo t-shirt. Baby girl was excited that we had our "costumes" on too. I am happy that she had a great time and that she wants to do this again next year.

Now, here's the mom fail....... I forgot to bring the camera last night so I don't have one single picture of our Little Elmo!! I know, I know, I'm hanging my head in shame. But believe me, I'll make up for during the holidays!

Have a great night Lovelies. Don't let the bed bug bite!!!

~Angie

It's Okay

Hi Lovelies! It 's Thursday and everyone knows what that means!! It's time for It's Okay Thursday.
Without further adieu......

It's Okay......

to put the Christmas tree up sans ornaments.

to make Christmas cookies even though Halloween just ended.

that I ordered the Lilly planner last night.

to be OCD about planners.

that I schedule everything in my life, especially school, hence the need for the new planner.

that I am ready for snow.

~Angie

P.S. Halloween recap will be posted after 9pm CST.
