5 Common Meal Planning Mistakes

Meal planning can be overwhelming. The trick is to just get started. But before we talk about meal planning, let's first talk about some common mistakes that most people make when meal planning.

5 Common Meal Planning Mistakes:

Mistake #1-- Not making a menu at all

I'll be the first to admit that there are plenty of weeks when I don't have a meal plan in place because of not knowing exactly how our week is going to plan out. But, you know what? When 4pm rolls around, I always regret not having a meal plan to rely on.

Even a simple meal plan that you have to change it better than not having one at all.

Mistake #2-- Thinking you have to plan out every single detail.

Guess what? If you are making the meal plan, you are the boss and you get to make the decision on how much you plan out and how much you want to "wing it". I usually plan the main dish with a side. When it's time to cook, first I check the fridge to see what produce needs to be used up and then I make a decision based on that.

If you are only planning one item per meal, then meal planning goes alot quicker.

Mistake #3-- Thinking you have be extra creative when meal planning.

There is no planning rule that say you have to plan something amazing for each meal. My breakfast menu is very simple and consists of cereal, eggs and toast, poptarts, and toaster strudel.

It's perfectly fine to add simple item to your meal plan-- you will be prepared while still having the ingredients on hand.

Mistake #4-- Thinking you cannot change the menu plan.

You are in control of the meal plan, the meal plan is not in control of you. If the time comes and find out that you do not have the time to make what is planned that day, then swap for something easier.

Do not avoid menu planning because you feel it's too limiting.

Mistake #5-- Being to ambitious in your meal choices.

The opposite of mistake #4 is to be too ambitious while you are meal planning

I try to learn from my mistakes and plan accordingly the next time.

What types of mistakes have you made while meal planning?

June Goals

Hi Lovelies!!

I cannot believe that it's already June! The year is half over, my baby will be 10 months in just a few days, and I have a first grader now. Time needs to slow down just a little bit!!

Since I haven't written a monthly goals post in such a long time, I thought it was time to set some goals for June.

1. Read at least 3 books.
2. Plan a trip to the zoo.
3. Eat more fruits and veggies.
4. Organize all of the closets
5. Workout 3 times a week.
6. Surprise the Hubby on Father's Day.
7. Cook one new meal a week.
8. Spend some alone time with my Hubster.
9. Spend one on one time with girls.

I would love to know what some of your June goals are! Tell me below or leave a link to a post where you listed them!

What are your June goals?

XOXO

My Other Half

Hi Lovelies!!

I found this little survey on Facebook and I wanted to share it with all of you. I thought I would be the best way to talk about my husband and our relationship.

1. Where did you meet your other half?

We actually met in grade school, 3rd grade. We had some of the same friends through grade school, middle school, and high school.

2. How long have you been with your significant other?

We have been together for 23 years.

3. If you're married, when did you say "I do"?

We said "I do" on December 23, 2009 ( I was 5 months pregnant) at our local courthouse.

4. What song did you walk down the aisle to?

There was no song, however, if we had had a traditional wedding I would have walked to Livin' on a Prayer (the slower version)

5. Do you have any children yet?

Yes... two beautiful daughters.

6. What's your favorite thing about your other half?

I love how he is with our girls. He loves them so much and spends so much time with them.

No, we were not high sweethearts, but we were college sweethearts

8. Where was your first date?

Golden Corral

9. How long were you dating before you said "I love you"?

Three months

10. How long were you dating your other half before he/she proposed?

We dated for 16 years before he proposed to me

11. Where is your favorite place you have traveled with your other half?

This is embarrassing, but we have not traveled yet.

12. How do you and your other half usually spend Valentines Day?

I usually make dinner for us with a special dessert.

13. What does your favorite 'date night' consist of?

Ha!!! What is a date night? We haven't been out on a date in the almost 7 years

14. What is the best gift you have received from your other half?

The best gift he has ever given me were balloons and flowers when we first stated dating.

How did you meet your significant other?
