Stars on the ceiling

Hi Lovelies!

I'm sorry I haven't posted since May 27th because we had to take Angelina to the ER and she was immediately admitted to the hospital due to fever and dehydration.

Here's what happened--- On Saturday (5/25), Angelina started running a fever. It wasn't too high, but I gave her some Motrin just in case it went up during the day. The next morning (5/26, Sunday), she woke up in her usual happy mood, played most of the day, still had a slight fever (alternated Tylenol and Motrin) and then that afternoon she said that her throat hurt, so we decided to take her to the ER since Monday was a holiday and her pedi's office was closed. We go the ER, checked in and 1 hour later we were seen. She still didn't have much of a fever, her throat was red, her ears were normal, so the ER doc gave her an antibiotic (no strep check) and we were sent home. She was eating and drinking just fine all day Sunday.

Then Monday gets here, and things just started getting worse. Her temp went up, she started fighting the tylenol and Motrin, and she refused to eat or drink. After her nap, her temp was up, she still refused Tylenol and Motrin, and she wouldn't eat or drink, it was then I realized that she had only had one wet pull up all day and that was at 5am that morning. I called the nurse's hotline, explained everything to the nurse and she said to take her back to the ER. We did, and when we got there, thank God we were the only ones there, because we were seen right away. When they checked her temp (it was 104) they took us back to one of the rooms, the ER doc started her on IV fluids right away. It was hard to see my sweet baby girl laying on a table with three nurses working on her, putting her IV in. It broke my heart and I cried the entire time. She was a champ and did not move once while the  nurses were working on her. After the IV was in for a while, they then decided to do a cathedure on her to check for a UTI and found out just how dry she was because they could get anything out. After three tries, Paul stopped them. After this we were told that she was going to be admitted into the hospital for fluids.

When we got the her room she noticed the stars on the ceiling and instantly wanted some for her room. She loved those stars and anytime someone would come into her room she would point to the stars and get excited. It was so cute!!

obviously this isn't the room, but you get the idea

Once she was admitted they wanted to do blood work on her, so they got everything ready and then we tried to put her on a board that would her arm straight, she fought and fought (even though she was sick, she was still strong as an ox) and I told the lab nurses to stop and that we would do it the next morning. Which we did and I cried the entire time.

To make a long story short, she was in the hospital for give or take 3 days (it felt like a week), ran a fever off and on for two of those 2 days, charmed all of the nurses, we walked a million miles up and down the hallway because she thought that if she was in the hallway she was going to get better and the nurses couldn't get her.

She loved this little car that the nurses gave her to ride in. She loved it so much that whenever she saw anyone in the hallway she made sure that they noticed her, either by turning on the radio or honking the horn.

I was grateful for the nurse who gave us this car, she absolutely loved it.

We also lost power for about half and hour and Paul was sick to (the same thing that Angelina had ). And now, we are home.

We are so happy to be home!

I wanted to say Thank you for my followers for reading while I was away. I hope to be back to my regular blogging schedule this weekend.

Have a lovely night!!!

Finding a Balance

As a stay at home mom I have been having a difficult time finding a balance between spending time with Angelina and doing my daily chores around the house. I feel gulity when I spend too much time cleaning the house, because I feel that I am ignoring Angelina. I clean my house every day, but believe me it's not spotless. I make sure the kitchen is clean, the floors are vacuumed, and the clothes are at least washed and dried. I know Angelina wants me to play with her all day, but I do need to do these things around the house.

This is a sore spot between myself and my husband. He feels that I need to entertain Angelina every minute every single day. I feel that she needs to play independently. When he is home and I have her play independently, he accuses me of ignoring her. I feel that she needs this time by herself so she can learn to play be herself.

I know I am doing everything right, I just my husband felt the same way.

So, I ask you, how do you find the balance?

My Summer Reading List

Hi Lovelies!

I'm a book lover as well as an avid reader. I read different genres, but I think my favorite is horror and my favorite author is Stephen King. However I have decided to branch out and read a few different books.

So every summer a put together my summer reading list. It's not a long list, maybe only 2 to 3 books are on it at any given time because that 's usually all I can read in the summer while taking classes. I found these recommendations on People Magazine's website. They seem to be interesting, so I may read one or two of them.

Book description (from Amazon)

What’s it like when the man you married is already married to God? asks Pastors’ Wives, an often surprising yet always emotionally true first novel set in a world most of us know only from the outside.

Lisa Takeuchi Cullen’s debut novel Pastors’ Wives follows three women whose lives converge and intertwine at a Southern evangelical megachurch. Ruthie follows her Wall Street husband from New York to Magnolia, a fictional suburb of Atlanta, when he hears a calling to serve at a megachurch called Greenleaf. Reeling from the death of her mother, Ruthie suffers a crisis of faith—in God, in her marriage, and in herself. Candace is Greenleaf’s “First Lady,” a force of nature who’ll stop at nothing to protect her church and her superstar husband. Ginger, married to Candace’s son, struggles to play dutiful wife and mother while burying her calamitous past. All their roads collide in one chaotic event that exposes their true selves. Inspired by Cullen’s reporting as a staff writer for Time magazine, Pastors’ Wives is a dramatic portrayal of the private lives of pastors’ wives, caught between the demands of faith, marriage, duty, and love.

Book description (from Amazon)

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle--and people in general--has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence--creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world.

Book description (from Amazon)

Lovely, idealistic Tracy Whitney is framed into a fifteen year sentence in an escape-proof penitentiary. With dazzling ingenuity she fights back to destroy the untouchable crime lords who put her there. With her intelligence and beauty as her only weapons, Tracy embarks on a series of extraordinary escapades that sweep her across the globe. In an explosive confrontation Tracy meets her equal in irresistible Jeff Stevens, whose past is as colorful as Tracy's.

What's on your summer reading list?

Happiness Is........

Hi Lovelies!

Today's post is all about what make me happy. Even though there are several things that make me happy; i.e, the sunset, the sunrise, and rain on the roof. Here are the top 8 things that make me a happy girl:

My hubby and my little girl.......the bring so much joy to my life. I cannot imagine my life without them.

The feeling of the air conditioner when you come in from outside.....whether I am mowing or just "playing chase" with Angelina, it is always feels like heaven when we come back inside.

Roses......they are so pretty and smell heavenly. And the brighten up any room.

The Right Stuff.....how does this not bring back memories of the 80s.

Yoga pants...... I pretty much live in these. They are so comfy and they were a staple in wardrobe after having Angelina, and they have been around ever since.

Chocolate.....who doesn't love chocolate. It's my go to food when I need my sweet fix.

The holidays..... there is just something magical about the holidays, the decorations, the music, the Christmas specials, it's just a magical time.

Seeing the number on the scale go down.

So, there are the 8 things that make me happy, What makes YOU happy?

Considering doing this

I stumbled across this and loved it. I am considering doing this in our home.

We spend the majority of our time in our homes, so naturally you wound want your home to be clean and clutter free. I found this to be very useful, and I plan on implementing these tips into my home.

What do you think of these tips? Are you going to implement these tips into your home?

Confession Time

I confess..... that I am still afraid thunderstorms. I hate the sound of thunder.

I confess..... that I have too much of a sweet tooth. Because of this, I have to keep the sweets in the house to a minimum.

I confess..... that I am horrible at returning emails. Chances are if you email me I might not email back, but I am working on this and I am getting better.

I confess..... that I am beginning to hate Dora the Explorer. We watch this almost every morning and once every afternoon.

I confess..... that I don't feel guilty about the Dora thing.

I confess..... that I am an 80s movies snob. In my opinion some of the best movies that were made, were made in the 80s. For example, the Back to the Future trilogy, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, just to name a few.

I confess..... that I have a love/hate relationship with my scale. I love it when the numbers go down, but I hate it when the numbers go up.

I confess..... that the only workout DVDs I use are Denise Austin's. Her's are the best and I always show results doing her workouts.

What are your confessions?

Heavy Heart

My heart is heavy today. Oklahoma has been hit hard by tornadoes the last two days. Thankfully, we were not in the paths of these tornadoes, especially the one that hit Moore, Oklahoma this afternoon (the storms were all around us, so it was scary for a while). My heart is breaking for the lives that were lost, especially for the children who lost their lives in the elementary school that was hit by the tornado. I have been crying most of the day and hugging and snuggling my Little One as much as I can (or as much as she will let me).

It was so scary and sad to watch the footage of the tornado and the destructive path that it took. As we were watching some of the footage, Paul and I were discussing the tornado drills we used to have in school. We used to sit in the hallway for these drills, why would anyone think that sitting in the hallway of a school is safe during a tornado. Because of this tragedy, we have decided that once "A" is in school we will pick her up during any kind of storm warnings and take her to shelter so that we know where she is and that she is safe.

Please keep Oklahoma and those affected by this tornado in your prayers tonight.

So, I leave you with this:

Please keep Oklahoma and those affected by this tornado in your prayers tonight.

A Moment

Today was an awesome day! We started our day off with a trip to Hastings where "A" played with some of the toys. Our next stop was to of all places... Walmart, where "A" played with more toys. We then went to the mall (her favorite place) and ate lunch at Chic-fil-a and then we decided to go the the park to see the prairie dogs. "A" loved watching them run around and then dart into their holes real quick. After watching the prairie dogs for a while, we then went to the local museum. "A" had so much fun!!

It was an awesome day and I look forward to many mores days like this!!!! These are the moments I live for and the ones that I cherish the most. I know "A" won't be this age forever and I am soaking up every bit of fun with her.

What I'm Afraid Of

What do you think of when you think of being afraid. All of us have are guilty of this and we know it.

I am always thinking about this question. It is never far from my mind.

What I am the most afraid of......

a broken heart
losing my husband and my daughter
not be financially stable
not making someone proud of me
not making myself proud
my health
sometimes I'm afraid of change
loss in general

I find myself thinking like this more and more often.

What are you afraid of?

It's Okay Thursday

Hi Lovelies!

We were supposed to take "A" to a NASA exhibit at our local vo-tech school today, but the weather changed our plans. Instead, we are staying home, snuggle under mounds of blankets, and watching shows and movies on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Since it's Thursday I'm linking up with Neely for It's Okay Thursday. Won't you come join me?

It's Okay.....

to be stressed about the last two weeks of my class.

to also be stressed about the start of my next class (which begins the day after the above mentioned class ends).

to have an unhealthy addiction to peanut butter and chocolate.

to have spent 3 hours cleaning the house only to have it messy again in 10 seconds flat.

that's it's rainy, windy, and cold again. It just means that I get to snuggle on the couch with my hubby and little lady.

to be in  a little food rut.

What's Okay with you today?

~Angie
