Hi Lovlies!

I wanted to share a recipe that is near and dear to my heart and brings back so many memories of my early childhood. It's Broccoli casserole. I cannot wait to try this!!! Here is the recipe:

Winter Storm

Hi Lovlies!

If you read my Sunday Social post, we have been under a winter storm warning since Saturday. We made it through the storm with only half an inch of snow. The Little was so excited to look at the window to see the snow. From her shouting, "It's snow Mom!!" you would have thought there was 3 feet of snow out there. Since she has a cold, she wasn't able to go out and play in it (she wanted to make snow angels), but Daddy brought some snow in the house and she had a blast playing with it and making a snowman family with a Mom, Dad, little girl, brother, and a sister. She had so much fun.

Hopefully I will be back this evening with my Happy Homemaker post. My internet connection on my computer is giving me problems again, I think it's the ethernet cable again, I'm hoping to buy one tomorrow after we take the Little to the doctor. This means the Happy Homemaker post will be up late tomorrow evevning, but hey, better later than never, right?

Anyways, good night, stay warm and don't let the bed bugs bite!

Sunday Social- Thankful

Hi Lovelies!

For this week's Sunday Social, instead of questions, we're talking about what we are thankful for in honor of Thanksgiving.

Today, I am thankful for the Hubby and The Little. They mean the world to me. They make me smile and laugh all day long and I cannot believe they are all mine.

Today,  I am thankful for a God who loves and takes care of me.

Today, I am thankful for my extended family. They accepted me into their family without even knowing me. I will forever be grateful for them.

Today, I am thankful that we have heat and electricity. It's cold outside and it's only going to get colder. We are under a Winter Storm Warning and I'm praying that we don't have a repeat for Ice Storm 2010 (happened at the end of January beginning of February, I was 7 months pregnant and we were without heat, water, and electricity for an entire week).

Today, I am thankful for the friends that I have made in a Faebook group. They have been there for me when I needed them, they are always there for me when I have questions (sometimes embarrassing ones) and they never, ever judge me.

What are you thankful for?

The Sickies have invaded

Hi Lovelies!

Well, it seems that the Little is sick. She has been complaining of a sore throat all day. At first I thought it was because we have had to put our heater on back up because of the below freezing temps, the ice, and the possible snow. But, she woke up earlier tonight crying and saying that her throat still hurts. Thankfully, she is not running a fever. If her throat is still bothering her by Monday, then we will have to make a trip to the doctor.

Please keep the Little in your prayers. Good night!!

So Thankful

Hi Lovelies!

Happy Friday! There are only 5 days until Thanksgiving!!! When November rolls around I (like everyone else) start thinking about what I am thankful for. As always, first on my list are my husband and daughter. Then I start to thing about other things that I am thankful for like, our house, the beautiful weather we have been having lately, you know the drill. But, this year I'm thankful the second chance that I have been given by God.

By second chance, I mean the life that I am living right now, a life that I wouldn't have if I had continued to live with my parents. You know my story by now ( I think I have written several posts about it), my parents were very controlling of everything that I did. I was their live in housekeeper, babysitter, cook, and errand runner. Anyway when I think back to that time in my life, God was there with me and he was pointing my in the direction that we wanted my life to take. The night that I left home, my husband (boyfriend at the time) was driving down the street when he saw me walking down the street (I had no idea where I was going), he picked me up and took me to his parents house (he was living with them at the time). He then talked to his parents and they graciously let me stay with them ( I had only met the one time before then).

God put my husband on that very same road that night. His family accepted me without even knowing me. Overnight I had an extended family that I knew that I could count one.

Now that my husband and I have a beautiful little girl, I am again reminded multiple times a day how thankful I am that on that faithful night my husband's parents took me in and made me a part of their family. Without them, I wouldn't have the wonderful life that I have now.

For this I am thankful.

What are your thankful for this Thanksgiving?

My Normal

* I get the water for my shower so hot that it makes my heart race and after I get out of the shower I feel like I've run a marathon.

* I am a overly sensitive person. The Hubbs likes to tell me that I am hyper sensitive. I mean I cry at everything; movies, songs, books, commercials.

* I love fresh sheets right out of the dryer.

* I cannot sleep with the closets doors open, they have to be closed. You know....because of the closet monster?

* Whenever I get into bed, I always, always, cross my left ankle, over my right ankle.... you mean this isn't normal for you?

* I love to watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I never miss an episode.

* Whenever Grease or Dirty Dancing is on TV I stop whatever it is that I am doing at the moment to sit down and watch. I even sing along as well!!!

What is your normal?

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hi Lovelies.

I'm actually posting this early! YAY me!!!! Well, Happy Monday!! We have had a relaxing weekend. We had such beautiful weather and we spent as much time as we could outside. We know our time outside is going to be limited soon; so we have been spending as much as time as we can outside.

Anyways, I'm linking up with Sandy from Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Have great Tuesday!!!!

As I look outside my window:

It looks like for the first part of the week it will be nice, but for the rest of the week and into the weekend it's supposed to rain. I love this kind of weather!

Right now I am:

Sitting at the table writing this post while my hubby is playing a game on the Xbox

Thinking and pondering:

That I need to start planning out the grocery list for this week's menu and our Thanksgiving menu

On my bedside table (still working on these):

On my kindle:

Creative Streak

Hi Lovelies,

Happy Monday! I wanted to talk about creating subway art. I have seen Subway Art all over the internet (pinterest, blogs, and google images) and have been wanting to create some of my own personalized Subway Art for the longest time. So, I started to google "tutorials for subway art" and found one that I liked at the vintagemom.com. It was such an easy tutorial and I am happy with the result of my first piece of Subway Art.

So here it is:

I'm so proud it and I cannot wait to buy a frame and hang it on the wall for Thanksgiving. I cannot believe how easy is was to create this.

Have you created any Subway Art recently?

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Life gets in the way

Hello Lovelies!

I hope every one has had a wonderful Saturday. It was another windy, windy day here. At least the sun is shining and there a just a few clouds in the sky. We have been enjoying this wonderful weather, knowing that our days outside a limited. It's 11pm and I'm sitting here watching old episodes of Dawson's Creek

and working on my lengthy to do list. I'm sorry for the lack of posts this week, but as the title of this post suggests, life got in the way. This week has been busy with errands to run, working on assignments and reading chapters for my class, taking the Little to library time and dance class, and working on my menu plan and grocery list for the next two weeks,

Tonight and tomorrow morning I will begin working on that to do list which looks like this:

~ start working on menu plan and grocery list
~ organize pantry
~ clean out refrigerator
~ fold clothes in the laundry baskets, toss around laundry
~ deep clean kitchen
~ work on paper that is due on Wednesday
~ work on discussion questions for the week
~ work on responses to the discussion questions
~ read chapters #3 and #4

I'm going to accomplish everything on this list by Wednesday. Hopefully, that will give me plenty of time to finish it. So, I think I'm going to get a head start by reading this week's chapter for my class.

Good night, sweet dreams, and don't let the bed bugs bite!

Tasty Tuesday-Caramel 'N Chocolate Pecan Bars

Happy Tuesday Lovelies!

I have been trying to find a new dessert for Thanksgiving and I think I have found on the inside of a Land O Lakes Butter box of all places. This recipe has the some of the best ingredients (in my opinion) in it. It has brown sugar, butter, pecans, and chocolate that are baked into unbelievebly scrumptious bars.

Caramel "N Chocolate Pecan Bars

For the crust you will need the following:

2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Land O Lakes salted butter, softened
1 cup pecan halves

For the caramel layer you will need the following:

2/3 cup Land O Lakes salted butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

For the Chocolate layer (on top) you will need the following:

1 cup real semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions for making these scrumptious pieces of heaven:

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all crust ingredients except pecans in a large bowl. Beat as medium speed until mixture resembles fine crumbs.  Press into bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch pan, Place pecans evenly over unbaked crust.

Combine 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until entire surface begins to boil. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 1 minute. Pour mixture evenly over pecans and crust.

Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until entire caramel layer is bubbly. (DO NOT OVERBAKE). Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle with chips, allow to melt slightly. Swirl melted chips over bars leaving some whole for marbled effect. Cool completely. Cut in to bars. Yields 36 bars.

TIP: You can use a combination of your favorite nuts or flavored baking chips for variety in these bars.

TIP: Store at room temperature in loosely covered container.

Enjoy this awesome recipe Lovelies!!

A Time to Give Thanks and High 5 for Friday

Happy Friday Friends!

It's Friday!! YAAAY!!!! It's the start to the weekend, and it's going to be a great one. This weekend we will be have a date night at home renting a movie and just enjoying some couple time. And this Sunday is Husby's birthday and I'm making him a wonderful and awesome birthday dinner: Shredded beefy sandwiched, cheesy hashbrown casserole, and veggies. And for his birthday cake I am making him a Caramel Swirl Cheesecake. It's going to be a great day!

So first up is A Time to Give Thanks. Next up is High 5 for Friday

Day #8- A Time to Give Thanks:

Today I am thankful for "me time". Now, I don't get this every day or even every week. But when I do, I cherish the time that I have to myself. It may a grocery store run or it just may be walking around town, but when I get that time to myself, I cherish and enjoy it. While I am gone I miss my Little and my Husby, but sometimes I just need this time to recharge my battery and I am a better mom and wife when I take this time to myself.

What are your thankful for?

High 5 for Friday:

1. The Little: She is an awesome little girl. She is the light of my life and I love her with all of my heart. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She is such a funny little girl who has been singing Jingle Bells since before Halloween. She wakes up every morning asking: "Is it Christmas yet?" and I tell her "No, we still have Thanksgiving" and then she says: "But I just want it to be Christmas?!" All I can do is shake my head and laugh. She is such a funny little girl and just love her to pieces.

2. Husby's Birthday Weekend: The Little and I are planning some fun things to do with Husby and we are making him a Caramel Swirl Cheesecake. We are going to have some fun!!!

3. This Fabulous Fall Weather: It has been so beautiful this past week. We have been staying out as much as possible and just having fun playing outside. We have been playing football, basketball, and soccer.

4. Making a "B" in my last class: This last class was a difficult one for me. Especially the professor, it seems that every time I turned in a paper she would practically accuse me of plagiarizing.  But, I talked to her and straightened every thing out and I actually made a "B" in the class.

5. Losing 2.2lbs: I joined Weight Watchers two weeks ago, I have already lost 2.2lbs. Even though it's not much it is progress I will take it.

November-A Time to Give Thanks- Day 7

Hi Lovelies!

Somehow I skipped day 5 and I don't know how that even happened. Anyways, on to day #7. Today I am thankful for music. Music brightens my day, and it helps me finish my housework. Besides, who doesn't dance in the middle of the kitchen with the broom or mop. Raise your hands if you have ever done this. I have ~raises hands~. Music is the best remedy for getting through a stressful time.

What are you thankful for today?

November Goals

Hi Lovelies!

Happy November! It's that time of year again, the monthly list of goals. For me, it's always a bit intimidating to put my goals out there for the "whole world" to see. In my mind, I'm always worried if someone is going to judge me if I don't meet all of my goals. So, I'm putting myself out there and making my list of goals that I hope to accomplish by the end of the month:

1. Do 2 pinterest projects no matter how small. I'm new to crafting so this should be doable for me.

2. Organize the bonus room and turn it into a family room. I have actually completed this!!! Yay me!!!!! I cleaned out the entire room in one day, so now all I have to do is add a few finishing touches and the room should be complete!

3. Go on one date night. Husby and I have not been on a date night since we became parents. It's much needed by both of us. We just need to figure out how to accomplish this. Even if we have to have an at home date night when the Little is asleep, it is much needed.

4. Put away the computers on night a week and just enjoy sometime with each other. This should be easy to accomplish.

5. Workout more.

6. Pretrack my weight watchers points.

7. Try one new Weight Watcher's recipe a week. I have a few bookmarked and hope to try the first one this weekend.

8. Continue to menu plan. This has really helped with our food budget. It's make cooking so much easier.

9. Have lunch with a friend.

10. Read two new books this month.

At the end of November I'll let you know how I did.

What are your goals for November?

~Angie

November- A Time to Give Thanks- Day #6

Hi Lovelies!

Today I'm talking about friends and why I am so thankful for them.

Day #6: A Time to Give Thanks

Today I am thankful for the friends that I have, real life and online. They are always there when I need them, I can call, text, or email at any time and they are always there to lend a should to cry one or just to listen. I am grateful for them and I will always need them in my life.

The friends that I have made online are some of the best friends that I ever had. I hope to meet them face to face one day because we have been through so much together over the past few years and I hope we can continue to support each other!

What are you thankful for today?

Tasty Tuesday- Copycat Olive Garden Salad Dressing

Hi Lovelies! Welcome back for another addition of Tasty Tuesdays!

As everyone knows Olive Garden is known for their salads. The salad and salad dressing are served with every meal. Their cold, crisp salad is hard to beat, especially when the salad dressing is served with it, it just seems to taste better. The salad dressing is so good, that they don't offer any other flavors of salad dressing.

Yesterday, I finally found one of the best copycat recipes for this salad dressing. I made this and it tasted just like the original. So, here it is, the recipe for Olive Garden's salad dressing:

Olive Garden Salad Dressing:

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup (I left this out)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Romano cheese (I left this out)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt, or 1 garlic clove, minced (I used 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Sugar (optional)

Instructions:

Combine all the ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little too tart for your own personal taste, add a little extra sugar. You can enjoy your Olive Garden salad dressing for up to 10 days if you store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Additional Notes
Another great use for the Olive Garden salad dressing is as a marinade for vegetables or even meats that you might like to grill. So you can see the Olive Garden salad dressing can be used in more than one way.

Enjoy!!!

November- A Time to Give Thanks- Day #3 and Day #4

Hi Lovelies!
I decided to write down what I am thankful for, for the next 30 days. Since Operation Must Catch Mouse was underway most of yesterday, I am combining today's and yesterday's thankful posts.

Day # 3:

Today I am grateful for Daylight Savings Time and an extra hour of sleep. Even though the Little was up at 5am, I was actually well rested and had a very productive day.

Day #4:

Okay, today I am thankful for my washer an dryer. I have been with out the washer and/or dryer several times and have found myself bending over the bathtub washing clothes by hand and then hanging them up on doors throughout the house to dry. Also, I don't know how 3 people can accumulate so many dirty clothes throughout an entire day (it's like they multiply or something).

What are you thankful for?

~Angie

Social Sunday

Hi Lovelies!

Happy Social Sunday eight minutes to late!!!! We had a bit of a situation in these parts. You see, we have been trying to catch a mouse that has decided to take up residence behind our TV stand. Well, we finally caught it a few minutes ago and had to dispose of it, which is why this post is late. Anyways.....

Here are this week's questions:

1. What is currently on your wish list?

The newest Stephen King book, Dr Sleep (the sequel to The Shining)

2. Share a new iPhone, droid, iPad app that you have recently discovered that we all need.

Since I don't have either one of these, I am unfamiliar with any apps that are on any of these devices.

3. What is a new fall tv show that you have added to your dvr?

Dracula

 4. Share your social media links so we can follow you.

5. What is a tv show, movie, or song that you could watch or listen to over and over and never get  tired of?

TV Show: Beverly Hills 90210

Movie: Dirty Dancing

Song: Livin on A Prayer

November- A Time of Giving Thanks- Day #2

Today I am thankful for this lovely, wonderful Fall weather we are having lately. We have managed to spend most days outside, playing, taking walks, having little picnics outside. I love weather like this! I open up the windows and let the cool breeze blow through the house and just enjoy all of the pleasent noises that are wafting in through the windows.

We have been enjoy 60 to 70 degree days and we are really loving. It's times like this that I begin to dread the winter, because that just means that our days of playing outside for hours will be no more until Spring decides to show up.

What are you thankful for on this day?

November- A Time of Giving Thanks

This time of year is always stressful for me, with classes in full swing and the holidays approaching rapidly, so instead of making excuses ( like I do every year), I'm going to change my attitude.

So, this year, starting right now, I vow to not whine or complain, I'm going to find something to be thankful for, for like a whole month.

Today I am thankful for my family, my amazingly awesome hubby, and my equally amazing little girl. They brighten my days, even the darkest. They always make me smile and laugh and they just drive me crazy sometimes. But, they are mine and I love them with all of my heart. I know  am loved and so are they. I am thankful for them each and every day.

~Angie
