How He Prosposed (After 16 tears together)

Yes, you read that right....Husby waited 16 years to propose to me, well 16 years and a bun in the oven (I was 25 weeks pregnant at the time). This is a day that I will never forgot. I always knew that I marry Paul one day, it just took him 16 years to realize it for himself. He didn't propose with a ring only because my boss at the time left me leave work early and it kind of messed up everything that he had planned. I wouldn't change it for anything. It is one of my favorite memories.

Paul took me out to the mountains (we live in Oklahoma, near Lawton, we went to the Wichita Mountains Wild Life Refuge) and we went to Jed Johnson Lake and he distracted me by telling me to takes some pictures, he then opened the truck and walked towards and handed me a bag from Hobby Lobby.... he then told me to open it, and it was a candy mold for mini wedding rings, it took a second for it to register, he then went down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I, of course, I said YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved it!!!

Oh How Pinteresting- 80s style

Hi Lovelies!

Happy Wednesday! I'm hoping I'll be able to relax a little some time today. I have had a busy couple of days and just need some down time (which I'll get in the evening when the Little is in bed). Anyway, let's get on with today's post. Today I am taking part in Oh How Pinetesting Wednesday. I thought I would put a twist on it and have the pins be from the 80s (I love the 80s). Enjoy!

Let's start pinning:

80s Music:

I had such a crush on Jon Bon Jovi!

I love this band! I know every one of their songs!

Motley Crue- love me some "Smokin in the boys room!

80s Fashion:

Who didn't rock a pair of leg warmers back then?

More 80s fashion!

80s TV Shows:

V: The Original Miniseries- I will occasionally search for this on yoytube and watch it. Love it.

Never missed an episode!

Moonlighting

Joanie Loves Chachi- I admit that I did watch this, but it didn't last long. I still liked it though.

The Cosby show- wasn't cool that all of life's little problems could be solved in under 3o minutes?

Growing Pains- I had a semi crush on Kirk Cameron!

I know there more, but these pins are what I was interested in back then. It  was a fun trip down memory lane, but naptime is over and the Little is calling for me!

Have a great Wednesday! Happy Hump Day! LOL!!!!

Tasty Tuesday- St. Patrick's Day Menu

Hi Lovelies!

Since St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, I thought I would make a St. Patrick's Day themed menu. I think I will start off with this delish looking Irish Beef Stew.

Irish Beef Stew
1-1/2 lb.  boneless beef round steak, trimmed, cut into bite-size pieces

2 Tbsp.  flour

2 Tbsp.  oil

1 large  onion, coarsely chopped

1 can  (14-1/2 oz.) beef broth

1 can  (14-1/2 oz.) stewed tomatoes, undrained

1 env.  (0.8 oz.) GOOD SEASONS Garlic & Herb Dressing Mix

1 lb.  red potatoes (about 3), cut into 3/4-inch chunks

3 carrots, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices

4 cups  hot cooked noodles

Make It

COAT meat with flour. Heat oil in Dutch oven or large deep skillet on medium-high heat. Add meat and onions; cook and stir 5 to 8 min. or until meat is evenly browned. Stir in broth, tomatoes and dressing mix. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally; cover. Simmer on low heat 15 min., stirring occasionally.

ADD potatoes and carrots; simmer, covered, 45 min. or until meat is tender and sauce is thickened, uncovering after 30 min. and stirring occasionally.

SERVE over noodles.

Then, I would make these yummy looking biscuits

One-Bowl Cheddar Biscuits

One-Bowl Cheddar Biscuits recipe

What You Need

2-1/4 cups  all-purpose baking mix
1/2 cup  KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 Tbsp.  chopped fresh herbs
1/4 cup  BREAKSTONE'S Sour Cream
2 Tbsp.  GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard
1/3 cup  milk
1 egg, beaten
12 fresh Italian parsley leaves

Make It

PLACE dough on surface lightly dusted with additional baking mix; knead 10 times. Pat into 1/2-inch-thick circle. Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter dusted with baking mix. Place biscuits, 2 inches apart, on baking sheet. Brush lightly with egg; top with parsley. Brush with remaining egg.
HEAT oven to 425°F.

COMBINE baking mix, cheese and herbs in large bowl. Mix sour cream and mustard in small bowl. Gradually stir in milk. Add to baking mix mixture; stir just until moistened.

BAKE 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

I think I will round out the menu with this delish looking dessert.

 Grasshopper Parfaits

What You Need

15 OREO Cookies, finely chopped (about 1-1/2 cups)
10 chocolate-covered mint patties, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
2 pkg.  (3.9 oz. each) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
1 qt.  (4 cups) cold milk
2 to 4 drops  green food coloring
2 cups  thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

COMBINE chopped cookies and mint patties.

BEAT pudding mixes and milk with whisk 2 min. Let stand 5 min. Meanwhile, stir food coloring into COOL WHIP until blended.

LAYER half each of the pudding, COOL WHIP and cookie mixture evenly in 12 parfait glasses. Repeat layers. Refrigerate 30 min.

I plan on making each of these dishes with a few modifications to each one so that Husby can enjoy them. I will post pics with a review of each recipe. I can't wait to make this menu, it's going to be so much fun!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hi Lovelies!

It's Monday and that means it's only 4 days until the weekend! Today I have been cleaning out our closets and just having the time of my life (NOT)! It's time to link up with Sandy for Happy Homemaker Monday. So, here we go!

The weather:

As you can see from the graphic, we are supposed to get a rain/snow mix later today. We'll see if it actually happens. In case it does, we are prepared with extra water and food.

Right now I am:
I'm watching season 2 of Party of Five (great show and I highly recommend it) and season one of Downton Abbey (I'm loving this show)

Thinking:

How in the world does my house get so messy and cluttered when all I have is a husband and one kid. Every single room is  a mess and in need of some serious loving. Also, why do I have to clean the closets?

On my reading pile:

I am still  reading Beaches and I'm enjoying it. I call this my "buffer" book as I am reading the newest Stephen King novel.

 Beaches

On my TV:

I'm almost done with season one of Downton Abbey and I'm watching season 2 of Party of Five

On the menu this week:

Monday- Manwiches/hamburgers and fries
Tuesday- spaghetti (red and white sauces) salad, garlic bread
Wednesday- smothered pork chops mashed potatoes, green beans
Thursday- chicken tenders, pasta, corn, cheddar biscuits
Friday- tacos, chips and salsa/cheese dip
Saturday- Roast, au gratin potaotes, green beans, and cheddar biscuits
Sunday- Beans and cornbread

On my to do list:
Laundry
Vacuum
Clean the bathrooms
Clean the bedrooms
Clean the kitchen

Clean and organize the closets

 What I am creating:

Nothing at the moment. I'm waiting on some yarn and material that I ordered for some new projects that I plan to start on very soon.

Homemaking Tips:

I found these tips from Carolina Charm

Homemade cooking spray: 1 part olive oil and 4-5 parts water, in a misting bottle

Erase hard water stains with a lemon

Looking around the house:

My house needs some TLC. Every room is messy and cluttered. There are dishes in the sink and on the counter. It's just a mess.

 From the Camera:

On my prayer list:

My husband as he begins his studies for his Master's Degree in Computer Science and my In-Laws.

Bible verse/devotional:

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. (ESV)

Monday, Monday

Hi Lovelies!

Today is going to be a busy! I'm going to be cleaning out and reorganizing all of the closets, with Husby's help. Also, since it is Monday I'll cleaning the house from top to bottom, dusting the ceiling fans, dusting the base boards, deep cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming, and laundering the sheets.

Right now, I'm thinking that I should be studying (it's 12:40am here), but I figure I can do it later today. It's supposed to be absolutely miserable today with a rain/snow mix. We have been lucky this winter. It's only snowed once here, and we have been having unseasonable warm weather the rest of the time. I did make a grocery run for a few breakfast and snack items. It's not supposed to rain/snow until after 8pm, but we'll see, sometimes weathermen can be wrong (or the weather patterns change in a split second).

Anyway, I guess I need to plan my strategy for cleaning out the closets today. I figure I'll just take it one closet at at time, maybe clean one closets a day so it is not so overwhelming. I'll be back later today with my Happy Homemaker post!

Talk to ya later!

Sunday Social

Hi Lovelies!

It's Sunday and Oscar night! I cannot wait for the Oscars. I would love see Bradley Cooper win Best Actor tonight and Silver Linings Playbook win Best Picture. Anyway, let's get to the meat of this post which is Sunday Social.

This week's questions:

1. Biggest middle school fashion mistake: the Jelly shoes!  Had them...wore them...rocked them....

2. Who were your best friends in high school?

Brandy, LaDonna, Rita. They were the ones that I hung out with.

3. What was a typical weekend like for you in high school.

Weekend.... what weekend? Most of the time I was taking care of my younger siblings. But once in a blue moon I would go to a few sleep overs, and maybe a movie.

4. Did you have any boyfriends?

Not really. I might have had one semi boyfriend but that was it.

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends?

Not really.

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?

Probably the prom. Even though I had fun I would do it differently.

What are some of your MS/HS memories?
